Becoming a Mom® Prenatal Education Program

Introducing an invaluable resource available for expectant parents – Becoming a Mom® prenatal education. Provided by the Maternal Child Health staff at Saline County Health Department, this program is designed to impart evidence-based knowledge on a wide range of maternity and postnatal topics, encompassing prenatal care, pregnancy health, and other essential areas. Crucially, the classes are easily accessible to all participants, either in-person or virtually, and aimed at supporting you on your remarkable journey towards parenthood. The more you learn with each pregnancy, the better you will be able to care for yourself and your baby. The Maternal Child Health staff at the Saline County Health Department along with community presenters and guest facilitators, provide six at no cost to the participant, prenatal education group sessions to the Salina community as well as surrounding communities. Our evidenced based curriculum includes prenatal care, pregnancy health, signs and symptoms of preterm labor, infant feeding/breastfeeding basics, infant care (to include car seat safety and current safe sleep practices), and postpartum recovery to include perinatal mental health and family planning options. Afternoon and evening classes are available Monday-Thursday, the 3rd full week of every month, excluding our summer schedule. You can enroll for the program by filling out the short form on this site or contacting Tricia at 785-826-6600 ext. 7334, text 785-819-6005, or email frytr@salinecountyks.gov
