Foreign Travel Immunizations

If you are planning a trip outside the United States, are you aware of health risks you may face at your specific destination?  Do you know if certain vaccinations will be required?  Are you aware of how to protect yourself from food and waterborne disease?   

These along with any other questions can be answered at the Saline County Health Department through our Foreign Travel Consultation Service.  This is done by appointment only.  These appointments typically last one-half to one hour per person.  This allows time to discuss all concerns, complete official documentation, and administer indicated immunizations.     

Call (785) 826-6602 to make an appointment with our Foreign Travel Nurse with a preferred minimum of 6 to 8 weeks before your trip. Please be prepared with the following information:  

  • Countries/Cities you plan to visit  
  • Dates of travel  
  • Your current immunization record  
  • Your insurance card  

Recommendations for vaccines are made in accordance with the Center for Disease Control guidelines.  Traveler health and safety concerns are discussed. Malaria medication (prevention) is recommended according to risk based on itinerary.  

Vaccines offered for Foreign Travel include Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Meningococcal Vaccines, MMR, Pneumococcal (Pneumonia) Vaccine, Polio, Rabies, TB Skin Test, Tdap, Typhoid, Varicella, Japanese Encephalitis, Cholera, and Yellow Fever. We can also help in facilitating a prescription for your Malaria Medications if needed.

We have an on-site Spanish language interpreter is available for all of our services. Medical interpretation for other languages is available upon request.
